He was born in 1746, in The Pombal's Farm, between the St. Joseph Villa (now Tiradentes Town) and São João Del Rei, in the State of Minas Gerais. He was the leader of the Minas Conspiracy and the first Martyr of the Brazilian Independence.

The statue of Manuel de Borba Gato in Sabará.

Borba Gato was born in São Paulo in Brazil. He was the discoverer of the mines in Sabará, Minas Gerais.

Praça dos Fundadores

Installed in Parque Municipal, the Praça dos Fundadores is a tribute to the founders of the state capital.

The monument was originally built in the Praça Sete and is composed of the busts of former governors Augusto de Lima, Afonso Pena, Bias Fortes and the chief enginener of the city's construction committee, Aarão Reis.
